Rested up. I saw "This is it" and generally impressed with the dancing and singing. It was a wee bit long but other than it was great. I mean I wish I could move the way the way he did when I am 50. Of course I'd rather be alive at 50.

Random Musings - Day #305

It's All Saints day.

On X-Factor, I was happy that Danyl stayed for another week. The bad press he's getting has got to him. He's the best singer in the competition, although I have a sneaky suspicion, he's peaked too early.

Cheryl Cole is still #1 on the UK Charts fending off Westlife's "What about now" and Jay Sean's "Down"

Hmmm I think I've made up 3 dance moves and the best way to describe them is in their names... the basketball pivot, the weaving slide and the crossover moonwalk...

Also went to The Globe on the south bank of London. I should really check out a play next term as like in the good old days you actually stand up for the whole show for cheap. The exhibition was fascinating. Particularly the urine being used as a stain remover for costumes.
"What the dickens" has nothing to do with Charles Dickens as he's 19th century. The term originate from a Shakespeare's play, "Merry wives of Windsor". Also didn't know that Sam Wanamaker was the person most responsible for bringing the globe theatre back. I immediately twigged that actress Zoe is in fact his daughter.

Random Musings - Day #214

An amazing story as it turns out as Catriona Matthew won the women's British Open. What made it amazing was she only gave birth to a second girl 11 weeks old at ripe age of 39 and was also caught in a fire in a hotel the previous week.
I was a bit curious about her playing partner on the final round, Christina Kim who likes to wear berets backwards. With her pigtails, she look a bit like cammy (or to be more exact a cross between cammy and chun li). She's a got a twitter page.

The UK singles chart is turning into a merry-go-round as the top 3 is the same as last week but in a different order and certainly not in the order expected. Having got stuck at #3 last week, Black eyed peas climb to the top displacing JLS at #2 whilst Mr Hudson and Kanye West fail to improve their debut entry at #2 last week as they slip to #3.

It's funny whilst waiting for a bus, I started to retrance those dance steps that I saw on youtube. Well unbeknown to me, a couple of kids were looking at me practising and wanted to know what/how I was doing that. Made me think if I were younger or more to the point why didn't do dancing sooner?

Hmmm I was having problems with keepvid and had to look at another video stream capture site in savevideodownload. Although the latter works if not better than keepvid. It's full of adverts, so be warned.

Sir Bobby Robson died today. Darren Bent looks like he's made a right twitter of himself on his page and has been left to apologise for his actions. His twitter has mysteriously disappeared as well.

Random Musings - Day #119

Rent a space
I saw an article in the newspaper discussing working from home. Working from home would be ideal but you do get isolated (cabin fever) from the outside and arguably some skills will go stale. So getting into the office, any office is good for social aspect, discussing ideas. Hence the novel idea of renting desk space. This is more suitable for the freelancer. An example can be seen advertised at gumtree and deskspacegenie. A couple of others include: sohodeskspace and rentadesk (not to be confused with Rentaghost).

Cheap tickets
I've done an impersonation of my dad... looking for bargains for the sake of a bargain. lastminute.com brought back their "When it's gone it's gone" special. Once again, tickets were sold out in about 10-15 minutes but this time, I got 4 tickets for a play called Sparrow Heights, which starts on May 12 at the Greenwich Playhouse. It cost 24 quid in all (4 pound booking fee). Now the question is who do I take?
Once again, i'll have a look at Avenue Q for June, as well.

Sobering Times in Bahrain
It looks like Bahrain are pushing for outright ban of alcohol. Some pubs and bars have already closed down as a result much to the anger of this blogger.

Dance
Talking of Greenwich, there is the Greenwich Dance Agency, which also includes yoga as once of its courses available.

UK Singles Chart
Tinchy Stryder Ft N-dubz are the new #1 with the song appropriately called "Number 1" leaving La Roux are denied at #2 and last week's #1 Calivin Harris is at #3.

Thought of the day, Lady GaGa took her name from the Queen song, "Radio Gaga". It wouldn't be a total surprise if we someone rebrand themselves as Lady Goo Goo as a tribute to Goo Goo Dolls.

Earn money fast by dancing (if male)
It looks like guys can get paid to dance because of so many women wanted to take ballroom dance classes after strict come dancing that they are sans partner. However I would take the article with a pinch of sale because the article was doing the rounds last month as in the evening standard and it looks like the same company, Simply Dance Partners were interviewed.

For your security
There's a useful benchmarking tool for Cisco routers and firewall.
Security Configuration Wizard (SCW) can be used to automagically set up system for specific jobs, e.g. DNS, mail, web, etc and autogenerate a policy for it.

Yes, she is back. Sabrina had a hit with that song late 1991 and now it's back.

Internet Radio. There is a lot of it about as seen in this radiofeeds site. I actually do dj myself on underground radio 5000 under the name, shy. Catch me on Thursdays, 9-11pm. I have good friends also at Love to funk who play live every Tuesday and also at Zodiac Sounds. If like me, you like dance music and 90s, check out Montreal's inbeatradio.

Dance schools. Now could you learn your moves from the Interweb. But you can quite easily go to a dance school.
A good start is to look in a directory like Dance Schools and dance schools online for the UK and London Dance. A couple of those to check out in London include Funk Physics, Jivenation, Basement Dance Studio and Pineapple. Whilst in Kent, there is Dance Junction and Hayley Lou's School of dance.
I've always wondered about the "Goodman Dance Centre" and whether it actually belongs to Len Goodman of Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing with the stars fame.

Well if you didn't know before it's official UK is in a recession.

Random Musings - Day #7

The DLR have kept the opening of Woolwich Arsenal DLR station underwraps. But I've been reliably informed by a friend and this transport blog that it will commence running on January 10th with the official opening a couple days later. This section should be another way getting about from the southeast into London and presumably is in place as an alternative means to the area where most of London 2012 Olympics will be held.

Now I am totally down with the flu but I am fighting it with Vicks, my special ginger drink, multivitamins, fisherman's friend and lots of water. Keeping hydrated is probably the key to it all. Anyways spotted this nice little recipe, which actually sounds tasty.

Moonwalking. There's some good tutorials on how to do it properly. One from videojug is here. Another good video tutorial is from
glowsticking.com. There's even one from Borat... well not quite but I LIKE!

Another friend says he is going to do some running in the not to distant future and asked what do I recommend. Decathlon and Sweatshop are probably your best bets. (Have a look at my running blog for more details...

I hate Manchester United. On paper, it wasn't humanly possible to lose to a team, that's only won 3 times in 11 with a couple of those against crap teams in cup competitions. But somehow they pulled off a 1-0 defeat to Derby in the Carling Cup. Not pleased at all. That's Man U, off my list of potential Premiership teams (as a second club) to support... It was too good to be true. I should have realised that Nigel Clough, Derby's new boss was around and they would be up for the game, whereas Fergie, the master tactician that he is realise, it's a game of two halves (there is a second leg to come at Old Trafford) and 8-1 on Derby winning. Yeah let them win. It's a fix. I swear the game was a fix! I hate Manchester United!!

Just looking at videos this morning. Always like to reminisce the old school sounds from the late 80s/early 90s by watching some old videoclips from the "chart show". A few songs I haven't heard in a long time are:

Random Musings - Day #1

I'm going to try and post something every day. Even if it's random mindless crap.
Anyhow if you want to learn to dance have a look at the youtube videos from
BigMilan. I was impressed how he broke it down for the running man and the Melbourne shuffle. Funky. Some new dance moves added to my arsenal!
A really funny video i stumbled onto was Justin Timberlake on Saturday Night Live as one of Beyonce's dancers in the parody of the video for "Single Ladies" and there's even a response from Beyonce about it who remarked how does JT keep his legs so smooth...

I was very dubious of the train companies who stated over Christmas period that they would offer a Saturday service on their trains during the week. However, there was no reduction at all in prices, so we are paying weekday/peak fares for a Saturday service... hmm, that sounds like a rip. Then I was told about a Croydon MP complaining not having an extra day or two for Christmas Day (no service) and Boxing Day (limited service) included on his 7-day travelcard.
