I was wondering today if it was faster to get to Canary Wharf via DLR at Woolwich Arsenal or Greenwich from Woolwich Arsenal. The answer is slightly surprisingly via Greenwich. But it is only by a few minutes. In fact, you should change at Canning Town and get the jubilee line instead.
Also found this annoying... people who use two cards in the same cashpoint machine when there is a queue. It's just inconsiderate!

Random Musings - Day #16
Lemon! Lemon is a fruit but it's no ordinary fruit. U2 made a song called Lemon (accompanied by a strange video). That was 1993. This is 2009 and now the makers of weebl and bob who did the anchor spreadable cow ads at one time, have entered the lemon game.
Best things in life are free. Yes you can play tennis for free! Well in the UK, you can.
Coulsdon is where I have been today on work assignment. Coulsdon is on the Surrey borders of London, slap bang on a major A-road (A23). It is a small town and arguably it's a bit of a sleepy town (aside from the A23). There doesn't appear to be a lot to do there. Mind you there it is steeped in history. There's a running club and even a chess club.
Coulsdon also have a rotary club and I've always wondered what exactly is a rotary club. I've always assumed it had something to do with boats and rowing simply because the word sounds like that and I've been to a rotary club before, which features rowing and boating. But in fact, a rotary club is an organisation that bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
Well I checked out the DLR extension to Woolwich and wow you really can go places from Woolwich. In a mere 5 minutes, you are at London City airport. A journey that used to take at least 45 minutes before this development. It takes 20-30 to get into Docklands. I went to Canada Water and that took me half hour even accounting for changes from the DLR to the jubilee line. I can actually see Woolwich developing fast when the credit crunch is over, before the London Olympics.
90s Useless Fact of the day: Swedish solo artist Meja had a hit with "All about the money" in 1998. However, she started her music career as a vocalist for Swedish dance outfit, Legacy of Sound who had a US dance hit with "Happy". Her website is at www.meja.net.

Random Musings - Day #7
The DLR have kept the opening of Woolwich Arsenal DLR station underwraps. But I've been reliably informed by a friend and this transport blog that it will commence running on January 10th with the official opening a couple days later. This section should be another way getting about from the southeast into London and presumably is in place as an alternative means to the area where most of London 2012 Olympics will be held.
Now I am totally down with the flu but I am fighting it with Vicks, my special ginger drink, multivitamins, fisherman's friend and lots of water. Keeping hydrated is probably the key to it all. Anyways spotted this nice little recipe, which actually sounds tasty.
Moonwalking. There's some good tutorials on how to do it properly. One from videojug is here. Another good video tutorial is from
glowsticking.com. There's even one from Borat... well not quite but I LIKE!
Another friend says he is going to do some running in the not to distant future and asked what do I recommend. Decathlon and Sweatshop are probably your best bets. (Have a look at my running blog for more details...
I hate Manchester United. On paper, it wasn't humanly possible to lose to a team, that's only won 3 times in 11 with a couple of those against crap teams in cup competitions. But somehow they pulled off a 1-0 defeat to Derby in the Carling Cup. Not pleased at all. That's Man U, off my list of potential Premiership teams (as a second club) to support... It was too good to be true. I should have realised that Nigel Clough, Derby's new boss was around and they would be up for the game, whereas Fergie, the master tactician that he is realise, it's a game of two halves (there is a second leg to come at Old Trafford) and 8-1 on Derby winning. Yeah let them win. It's a fix. I swear the game was a fix! I hate Manchester United!!
Monkeh (a.k.a. the Digital/PG Tips Monkey). A little flashback to those adverts from the ill-fated itv digital. Have a look at Ryan Giggs in a pinny.
