Random Musings - Day #92
Just been having a look at next year Trinidad carnival and the dates that will be on Feb 15 and 16, 2010.

Random Musings - Day #54: (Bahrain #4)
I don't know why I feel like I have the cold/sore throat but later in the day I am fine. It might were be sandy environment of Bahrain.
Still trying to take it as easy as I can but I did go to the Bahrain National Museum, which appears to be a combination of a local art gallery, local artifacts and graves. There is also private collection on display for the late King Saud.
Also went to the Bahrain City Centre mall fairly big with 3 floors of shops, bowling alley, cinema, waterpark. Mind you, it's not fully completed though.
Went to a karaoke place and sung as well. heh.
Sexercise
As the "time warp" song goes "let's sexercise, let's sexericse", it looks like that there is evidence that it keeps you fit.

Meanwhile in Trinidad and Tobago, the 2009 carnival is in full swing and can be watched live.
Oscars
Oh yeah and Slumdog Millionaire won 8 oscars. Kate Winslett and Heath Ledger won their oscars too. However, the rest didn't, just to show the leaked list was faked (or change at the last moment).

Random Musings - Day #28
After regailing shutdown messages on Unix boxes at university and discussing Calvin Harris. The thought crossed my mind. I am sure I remember seeing something computery about Calvin and Hobbes. It turns out, it possibly because one of the earliest ever websites (back in 1995) was the digital calvin and hobbes site. One of Calvin's quotes is also considered a famous computer quote
Java vs Flash. Well Java look to be taking be on Adobe in terms of dynamic content over the web. Recently, they have been promoting JavaFX. This not to be confused with the go-between solution of JFlash.
Hacker Meetup? I'll be keeping a close eye on these boys from songkick. They are hoping to have meetups every month. Interesting to also the UK govenment have set up a security response team, similar to our friends in the states.
Staying in is the new going out. There looks to be a positive side to the credit crunch for certain companies. Sky are creating a 1000 jobs and my sources tell me that Coca-Cola are creating jobs in London. So business is good. Why? Well more people are staying in as it is perceived to be more expensive to go out. Hence people are buying more drinks and watching tv/entertainment. That said Sky recently increased their broadband 5 pounds across the range (including the 'free' broadband + tv package).
Talking of going out, the Notting Hill Carnival is under threat of being cancelled for 2009. Interesting this forum suggests it should be banned. :( Come on people, it's part of the sub-culture in London! I suspect there are political undertones as the council / government are trying to cutback on expenditure. Hence why they are making these difficult demands to ensure that they do not have to fund the event. That's what it all boils down to.

Random Musings - Day #18
The best way to get Peterborough from the south is the M11 not the M1. Old town Towcester is in Northamptonshire.
The legendary artist/uk tv presenter Tony Hart, 83 died today. Famous for his gallery and Morph.
I'm so easily amused, there is a television advert for comparethemarket.com with a well-dressed meerkat who is pleading don't get confused with comparethemeerkat.com!
Carnival time almost upon us. It's unfortunate they occur at the same time but there is the carnival in Rio and Trinidad.
There is always something happening before the carnival but in Rio, the actual carnival gets into high gear on the Saturday (Feb 21) and winds down on 'fat' Tuesday (Feb 24).
Another guide comes from the girl from ipanema. Whilst in Trinidad, the carnival itself is on the Monday and Tuesday. There are a number of fetes including Insomnia on the Saturday before. Although 2009 will unfortunately be the last one. A nice blog about mas is supplied by saucy. Other good sites include Trinisoca and Toronto-Lime. Yes, Toronto! Toronto does have a decent West Indian community. Anyway that site has events (in Toronto), songs and charts. Talking of events, here's a list of fetes in Trinidad.
It looks like I'm on Setanta Sports has turned into Special 1 TV.
Lady GaGa is once again #1 in the UK for a second week. Kid Cudi is at #2 with "Day'n'Nite". James Morrison/Nelly Furtado at #3 with "Broken Strings".
