Well a few people have benefited big time over the recent crash in interest rate. A Middlesex couple are enjoying a 1p interest on their monthly repayment, effectively a free home loan. The reason is simple enough. Only a couple of years ago, mortgages were on offer that were discounted/tracked beneath the Bank of England rate. Well since it has crashed to 0.5%, some deals that were as high as 1% beneath the interest rate are 0. (They don't seem to want to give you -0.5% interest; i.e. pay off some of the repayment for you;)
