Random Musings - Day #145

24/7 DVD
Well I saw the season finale (a week after the States) and was pretty good. I am looking forward to getting the DVD although it looks like it is not released until October 19th. In the states, it's already released!

Burnley up
So the team that played the most games in the football league aside from Manchester United got up to beat Sheffield United 1-0. They did well against Premiership teams in the cup competitions and I fancy them to stay up next season.

UK Singles Chart
Dizzie Rascal scores his 2nd #1 following on "Dance wiv me", he teams up with another former #1 act in the form of Armand Van Helden. Together "Bonkers" is the new #1. Black-eyed eyes and Tinchy Stryder drop down to #2 and #3 accordingly.

Random Musings - Day #110

Britain's got fixed... err Talent
Shaheen Jafargholi appeared on Britain's got Talent and performed in the end two songs. The original song, "Valerie" was actually poorly sung. The kid wasn't sung in time at all and actually Simon Cowell was right to stop him and ask him a second song. He sung "Who's loving you" by Michael Jackson. He nailed it, which makes for good TV.
However, it turns out much to my disappointment that he played Michael Jackson in the musical about him. So I smell a rat... definitely a roust. Even if it wasn't played up for TV, I don't think it's fair that someone like him (no matter how young he is) who has already has had some success in the entertainment business should be allowed to take part in this competition. I've read in the newspaper that he also has been in Torchwood and Casualty. Oh look he's got an IMDB entry. Not impressed!
I really hope Susan Boyle wins... unless she happens to have been singing on behalf of Lesley Garrett or Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.

24
Probably a spoiler but we've reached episode 18 of 24/7. There's a huge twist. So if you want to see my thoughts on this, you'll have to highlight the space below.

Tony Almeida kills the head of the FBI department and needs the bioweapon cannister to give to the people he is working for. That is unknown. Also unknown is who is working for. Most people in the forum thinks he's been bad all along. Initially when he turned out to be working with the ex-CTU gang, Bill and Chloe, he admitted his character wasn't 100% clean, which left the way for a turn back to the evil side. I forgot about that particularly as he's been working with Jack Bauer.
Who may be helping him. Janis? Well she's not done anything of any significance. Chloe? She's disappeared. Apparently new character Cara Bowden played by Amy Price-Fisher is going to be a co-conspirator.
However, I am beginning to like the sound of the idea of.... Kim Bauer? Why? Reason #1, She said she has been looking for Jack Bauer, which naturally gives her an excuse to be in the area. Reason #2, Tony asked about Kim, possibly to make sure she is in place. Reason #3 and perhaps the important reason, a decent plot-line for Elisha Cuthbert.

Hull
Along time ago, December 11th 2008, I told my workmates that Hull City would get relegated even though they were in 7th position at the time. Much to everyone's merryment, they won their next game. However look where they are now, 16th and plummeting fast. If only I had the sense to put some money behind it. I think it was like 5/1 at the time.

Random Musings - Day #87

Hot tea... not good?
Apparently having steaming hot tea increases the chance of cancer. However it does say adding milk as in the western tradition cools the tea, reducing the risk.

Busy Business
For some reason, today was extermely busy in the streets and shops of the Medway. Traffic was really bad in Rochester. Even where I live, pubs were pretty busy. Considering it was fairly cold and windy today, very surprising.

24
I am enjoying 24/7! Jon Voight as a main villian and enjoying himself whilst being evil. There is something menancing that makes him a classy villian. Anyhow I was catching on the latest episodes that I've missed and realise you can easily lose track of time, watching television and vegging out!

Tripwire
I thought tripwire was supposed to be a triggering mechanism to pick off if anyone is trying to do something/get in somewhere. But according to the company tripwire, it's a configuration controller.

Netbooks
Well looking for one now. I have decided to the follow the fad of netbooks. One of my biggest questions would be how easy it is to restore/rebuild the operating system. Well it looks like it as easy as changing the bios to boot from usb device and go from there. Here's an article where someone has installed Mac OS X on Lenovo Idea Pad. There is a comprehensive list of netbooks available too. WhatLaptop put the Acer Aspire One as he number 1 in netbooks. But for me, looking for something cheap and something easy to rebuild (and have a correct drivers available). Anyways do your own research!

Random Musings - Day #24

Continuity Error. I just spotted a continuity error with the third episode of Hustle. Ash hustles new boy Sean by allowing him to mark the cards in a game of 'find the queen'. When Ash cons him for the big money, he changes the cards. However, in the earlier scenes, the cards had a blue back, whereas the cards in the last scene they were red. Sean put down his money (hence the bet was on) after Ash had laid out red cards face down. Surely Sean was not that dumb!
There are so many fun continuity errors to be found. You can probably find a website of continuity errors dedicated to one show or movie. nitpickers maybe a start but I would just google "continuity errors" and go from there.

Poker. Now I know you can play poker on most of the popular social networks, these days but some of the mainstay sites (or at least the one I have heard of/played at) include partypoker and pokerstars. Another one, I've seen plastered the internet is pkr.com. There are places where you can play (aside from casinos) in the UK and in Canada too. But judging by both sites, popularity seems to be waining particular in London where there used to be 30-40 places to play, now there is only 7. Could be the credit crunch or more pubs going out of business.

As it is the 24th, a 24 update this is probably a spoiler for those who has not seen first episodes of season 7. But Tony Almeida came back from dead and turned evil for 3 years. Though the last few months, he turned and went under cover when he spotted a conspiracy. The producers have been very clever here imho because they have left the way for Tony to turn evil at the end. That twist would seem unlikely as Jack said, "if I have any doubts, I will turn you in" which would imply he has that eventuality in mind. Plus most people wouldn't like that plot-line.
You can also watch France 24 if you can't get enough. :P

Did you know today is National Compliments Day and Belly Laugh Day?

Random Musings - Day #17

24. Last Monday in the UK was resumption of 24. I am currently trying to catch up on the first two episodes. In the states, they are 2 episodes ahead of the UK. There's a nice fan site that I like, it's Almeida is God but be warned it does have spoilers.

Unix Security. I have been looking at Unix security today. A good start and guide would be at Unix tools, deter and albion.com. Here's the wikipedia page on the subject.

Cat tails. I probably posted about this ages ago but different cat tail actions reveal different cat moods.

80s. Back in the 80s, there were lots of fads (including fads itself). Don't forget the song Calvin Harris had "Acceptable in the 80s". This article talks about brick-like mobile phones, yuppies, frilly shirts, men's make-up, dynasty shoulder pads, poodle perms, mullets and wispa! Talking of the 80s, well in particular 1989. I saw a classic video track, Roxette with "The look". 20 years ago today, Bobby Brown was #1 in the United States with "My Prerogative".
