Liverpool II
The main reason why it was difficult to get any hotel the previous night was of course the Liverpool-Arsenal game. In fact I was charged 65 quid for the B&B. I thought it was expensive and not surprisingly in the cafe below, I saw a little poster saying prices from 20 quid. But it was practically the ONLY hotel in Liverpool not fully-booked, so they were probably entitled to do that. Furthermore, I am sure the same problem would have occurred tonight as the WWE are in town tonight!

Random Musings - Day #111
111
111 is apparently the perfect number, it is also 7 in binary... lucky?
Liverpool
I went up north for work and missed my designated train (fortunately, the ticket is saver return and hence can take any off-peak train) by 5 minutes. I badly wished for that train to be late. No. Worse yet, the next train an hour later was late by 40 minutes. So I was waiting well over 90 minutes. Not pleased. It always the case if you miss one train, invariably the next one is either delayed or cancelled.
Because of this I had to franticly find the telephone number of the hotel I was staying at (particularly the last hotel I stayed at, had a check-in time of between 4-8pm). Inconveniently, work didn't supply me the number so I had to look it up on the phone in the end. The hotel was City B&B. I phoned them and fortunately someone would wait for me.
I didn't get to Liverpool until 11pm. The taxi was interesting. I almost freaked him out when I said where I wanted to go to. It was almost as if I asked 'Could you take me to Thamesmead?' from London City Airport! He did take me there and told me the area was a dive! Anyways, it was eerily quiet and yes a bit derelict. Anyhow the hotelier was nice enough. Mind you, he didn't take card, so I had to get some cash but the man was nice enough to escort me to the cashpoint machine in town. So that was cool. He did make a remark (although in a friendly tone) that some guys after football games check in at midnight without forewarning, which luckily enough I did.

Random Musings - Day #22
The people are friendly in Liverpool, at least at the place I was working at. I was told about the interesting fact that the young ladies like to go out on the weekend mornings in their pyjamas. Presumably not changing from the previous night's activities. In fact, this actually started in Ireland/Northern Ireland
I've always wondered what happened to Gordon Burns, especially with the reemergence of Britain's toughest game show, The Krypton Factor. Well, I was slightly surprised to find him presenting the regional news on BBC 's North West Tonight. Good for him! Anyways he presented the following article...
I have always had a few reservations about the US Immigration but it looks like the Canadian authorities have gone one better. They threw out a Brit for being disabled back to Manchester. Arguably, the British man was there illegally at some point. But if you read the bottom of that article, it states: "The Immigration Act frankly prohibits people with disabilities from immigrating to Canada," said Laurie Beachell of Disabled People's International. "The effect would mean people like Stephen Hawking, world-renowned physicist, brilliant man, could never become Canadian."
Lovely...
Microsoft cuts 5000 jobs! It's doom and gloom as the credit crunch/recession/whatever you want to call it appears pwning everything!
Sport is also being effected. Troubled insurers AIG are not renewing their sponsorship for the Manchester United team shirt. A few other premiership sides have suffered as well notably West Ham, Newcastle and West Brom still have no shirt sponsor!
Also feeling the pinch is horse racing as Essex course, Great Leighs closed last week and see the last remark as Ricky Hatton and his camp seek to fight in the UK rather than the states due to the declining pound.
Back to football and it looks like the TV rights are going to go down the music industry route as the premiership look to stop the Internet pirates from streaming their football games. There are a number of sites that do this already, so no surprise the Premiership are screaming as the big pockets are getting picked. boo-hoo-mr-magoo!

Random Musings - Day #21
I'm in Liverpool, great! I'm sitting on the docks of the bay. The docks are surprisingly lovely. It is amazing how being the European Capital of Culture for 2008 changes a city. In case you are wondering, 2009 belongs to Vilnius.
Some might say I lack charisma, so like me, why don't you check out charisma masterclass.
Bah actually, my saying is "Form is temporal, class is forever"
Must check out and find out about people who love to shorten their surname to a letter and see if there is connection between that and their personality. e.g. Lisa B, Emma B, Eric B, Stevie B, Stevie G, Mel B/G, Mel C, Ya Kid K, Baby D, Dimples D, Derek B...

Barack Obama is today sworn in as the 44th president of USA.
Anyways, it is argued that the character David Palmer on 24 paved the way for Barack Obama. In fact, he was voted the top TV president.
