Random Musings - Day #171

RIAA win nearly $2 million
Another win for the bad guys, as RIAA get the verdict over a mum from Minnesota.

An old lightweight DoS exposed
Now the old silently terminating a request and forcing the web server to wait for the duration of the web server's timeout period (e.g. apache is 300 seconds) rares it
ugly head as reported in article by rsnake. Interesting, the company that I know of had come up with proof of concept for this and for whatever internal reason waited too long to get a disclosure out back in 2006.

Gladys Knight
I saw an old video of Gladys Knight looking good with her pips and begged question what was her most famous hit. I could only come up with "Licence to kill" of the top of my head and that wasn't with her beloved pips! I was sure she recorded an original of a song that was covered famously later. Then I figured out it was "I heard it through the grapevine" covered by Marvin Gaye. Other songs they made the UK top 20 with were "Take Me in Your Arms and Love Me" (1967) and "Help Me Make It Through the Night" (1972), whilst "Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)" (1973) was arguably their biggest US hit.
